  • Communities Receive Betterment Funds

    Southeast Gas recently announced Community Betterment Funds in the amount of $164,000 for 14 communities in Southeast Alabama. Community Development Funds are just one way that Southeast Gas invests in communities throughout Southeast Alabama. The company’s approach to economic development includes an emphasis on community development to support existing and potential commercial businesses in cities served by Southeast Gas. Funds must be requested through each city’s Southeast Gas Board representative, and typically awards are split between the local economic development agencies and the city to provide enhancements to community development efforts in the area.   • Southern Roots Announces Dothan Plant

    Southern Roots Nut Company recently announced its investment of $16.6 million for a pecan processing facility in Dothan that is expected to create 120 jobs. The new facility is expected to be a hub for processing, storing, and distributing raw pecans. Southern Roots is a New Mexico-based company that specializes in growing and processing high-quality pecans for delivery worldwide. Brandon Harrell, the chief operating officer and president of sales for the company, has lived in Dothan with his family since early 2018 and says the company is excited to partner with a business-friendly state like Alabama for this project.
