  • Alabama Development Fund: A Game Changer for Rural Economic Growth

The recent introduction of legislation creating the Alabama Development Fund is a pivotal moment for economic growth and prosperity in our state. For the rural Alabama communities served by Southeast Gas, this legislation represents an unprecedented opportunity to compete on a more level playing field for economic development projects that have historically been out of reach. Economic development in Alabama has long been driven by a mixture of incentives, infrastructure improvements, and strategic partnerships. However, rural communities often find themselves at a disadvantage when it comes to accessing the necessary funding and resources to attract and retain businesses. • Giving Back to Schools in 2025

Southeast Gas recently announced its 2025 Give Back to Schools contribution of $148,875 to 20 public school systems in Alabama. To date, local public schools received more than $1.95 million through the Give Back to Schools initiative and the more natural gas a school system uses, the more dollars that system receives. The Give Back to Schools initiative is one of the many ways Southeast Gas is dedicated to strengthening our communities. According to Southeast Gas President and CEO Greg Henderson, the company's commitment extends far beyond these contributions. • Putting Community First

In a world where large corporations often feel distant from the communities they serve, there are rare exceptions. Consider the approximately 1,000 public natural gas utilities in the United States.  Most are small and have a few hundred to a few thousand customers. Despite their size, these utilities make a big impact by providing affordable and efficient natural gas. Southeast Gas, a community-owned natural gas utility serving 14 cities in our state, is a shining example of this. Because it is owned by these Alabama communities, Southeast Gas is more than a utility provider – it’s a neighbor, a partner and a local advocate. Together, the cities of Abbeville, Andalusia, Brundidge, Dothan, Elba,  Enterprise, Eufaula, Fort Deposit, Greenville, Headland, Luverne, Opp, Ozark, and Troy own and provide Board oversight for Southeast Gas. Most of the Board representatives for these cities are mayors or council members with deep-rooted connections to the…
