OED Seeks SEEDs Funding to Provide Road/Bridge Access to Northeast Opelika Industrial Park

Opelika Economic Development plans to open access to 282 acres within its Northeast Opelika Industrial Park by constructing an access road and bridge using SEEDs funding and their own matching funds for the $4 million project. SEEDs funding for entities like Opelika Economic Development allows them to leverage local funds to strategically invest in the future of their community.

The industrial park, which is owned by Opelika Industrial Development Authority and situated within the Opelika City limits, is already home to world-class companies in the automotive, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, distribution & logistics, and aerospace sectors. Opelika Economic Development Director John Sweatman says, “Gaining access to the site with the extension of Northpark Drive and construction of a bridge to cross Halawakee Creek will allow for the continued recruitment of world-class companies to our city and state.”

All utility infrastructure investments are in place and the site will be served through relatively minimal extensions once a new project is identified. The NEOIP is served by Southeast Gas and another natural gas provider, two (2) power providers, two (2) high-speed fiber providers, and city water and sewer with more than ample capacities.

NEOIP is located along Interstate 85 in Opelika. The site has approximately 1.11 miles of interstate frontage and will be accessible from exits 64 and 66.
