Southern Roots Announces Dothan Plant

Southern Roots Nut Company recently announced its investment of $16.6 million for a pecan processing facility in Dothan that is expected to create 120 jobs.

The new facility is expected to be a hub for processing, storing, and distributing raw pecans. Southern Roots is a New Mexico-based company that specializes in growing and processing high-quality pecans for delivery worldwide.

Brandon Harrell, the chief operating officer and president of sales for the company, has lived in Dothan with his family since early 2018 and says the company is excited to partner with a business-friendly state like Alabama for this project.

Southeast Gas worked alongside the Alabama Department of Commerce, the State of Alabama, the City of Dothan, the Dothan Industrial Development Board, and many others to make locating to Dothan a natural choice.

Dothan Mayor and Southeast Gas Board Member Mark Saliba said, “We are excited to welcome Southern Roots Nut Co. to our economically diverse community. The jobs that they are creating will have a long-lasting positive impact on our Wiregrass region.”

We agree, Mayor, and Southeast Gas welcomes Southern Roots Nut Company to the Wiregrass.
