As a customer of Southeast Gas, you may request that we install an excess flow valve (EFV) on the natural gas service line to your property. An EFV is designed to discontinue the flow of natural gas automatically if a service line is damaged (for example, by an excavation accident), and may reduce the risk of a natural gas fire, explosion, personal injury and/or property damage. An EFV does not protect against a slow leak.
If you would like to have an EFV installed on the natural gas service line to your property, you may notify Southeast Gas at 800-660-8683 to request a mutually agreeable date for installation. The average cost to Southeast Gas customers is expected to be $600, but the installation cost will vary from property to property, depending on the difficulty of installation.
If you request an EFV, we will inform you of the actual cost prior to installation. An EFV cannot be installed on some service lines due to high gas flow, low pressure or other factors. If you request an EFV we will inform you if your service line cannot accommodate an EFV.
