Southeast Gas’ Board of Directors consists of one representative from each of the company’s owner cities. The company’s Board of Directors governs Southeast Gas and sets the company’s policies. Day-to-day operation of the company is provided through the areas of Operations, Central Engineering, Gas Management, Finance and Administration, Corporate Services, External Affairs and Economic Development, and Marketing and Communications. The company’s President and CEO, as well as the executive staff manage these areas.
J. Gregory Henderson
President & CEO
Greg Henderson was appointed Southeast Gas’ President and Chief Executive Officer in 2006. Henderson joined Southeast Gas as Director of Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer in 1998. Prior to joining Southeast Gas, he was employed by PowerSouth Energy for 12 years and PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP in Birmingham for 3 years. He currently serves as Vice Chair of American Public Gas Association (APGA) and on the Boards of Economic Development Partnership of Alabama, Auburn School of Accountancy Alumni Advisory, Easter Seals of Alabama, and CCB Community Bank. He is Past President of Alabama Natural Gas Association, Andalusia Chamber of Commerce, Andalusia Rotary Club, and LBW Community College Foundation. Henderson is Certified Public Accountant, and a graduate of Auburn University with a degree in Business Administration/Accounting.
Director of Finance and Administration & CFO
Lori Messick is Southeast Gas’ Director of Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer and is a Certified Public Accountant. She oversees the daily operations of the accounting, auditing, warehouse, accounts payable, payroll, property management and information services areas of the company. She is responsible for financial reporting, credit ratings, long-term debt management and Southeast Gas’ insurance programs. Messick began working with Southeast Gas in 2001 as a General Accountant. She also served in the roles of Accounting Supervisor and Budget and Reporting Manager before assuming her current role with the company in 2016. Messick joined Southeast Gas with 10 years prior accounting experience, as well.
Director of External Affairs and Economic Development
Wiley Lott is Southeast Gas’ Director of External Affairs and Economic Development. He leads Southeast Gas’ economic development efforts, provides guidance and partnership opportunities for local economic developers, recruits industry nationally and internationally and coordinates programs focusing on the retention of existing business in the Southeast Gas service area. Prior to joining Southeast Gas in 2013, Lott served on the Economic Development Team for Alabama Power Company. He also served as Director of Distribution Center Real Estate, Economic and Community Development, for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc, where he was responsible for United States Distribution Center & Special Projects Development. Also while at Wal-Mart, Lott created and ran the Governmental Affairs Department.
Director of Corporate Services
Lex Colquett is Southeast Gas’ Director of Corporate Services. He guides the company’s succession planning, employee relations, staffing and affirmative-action programs and all other human resources functions. He also oversees the direction of all employee safety training, operator qualification standards and worker’s compensation claims and compliance. Colquett joined Southeast Gas in 2000 as Human Resources Manager, and also served in the role of Director of Human Resources before assuming his current position in 2001.
Director of Operations, Western Division
Jimmy Black is the Director of Operations for Southeast Gas’ Western Division. He oversees system operations and maintenance at Southeast Gas facilities in Montgomery, Andalusia, Elba, Fort Deposit, Greenville, Luverne, Opp and the surrounding communities. He is also responsible for the areas of customer experience, meter reading, system service, construction, installation and collections in the Western Division. Black joined the company in 2004 as a Marketing Representative and later promoted into the roles of Operations Coordinator and Operations Manager before accepting his current role in 2017.
Director of Operations, Eastern Division
Steve Duebelt is the Director of Operations for Southeast Gas’ Eastern Division. He oversees system operations and maintenance at Southeast Gas facilities in Opelika, Dothan, Abbeville, Eufaula, Headland and the surrounding communities. He is also responsible for the areas of customer experience, meter reading, system service, construction, installation and collections in the Eastern Division. Duebelt joined the company in 1981 as a Meter Technician and served in many operational areas within the company. In 1992, he became Information Services Manager, and remained in that position until accepting his current role in 2006.
Director of Operations, Central Division
Terry Barnes, a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Alabama, is the Director of Operations for Southeast Gas’ Central Division. He oversees system operations and maintenance at Southeast Gas facilities in Brundidge, Daleville, Enterprise, Ozark and Troy, as well as the surrounding communities. He is also responsible for the areas of customer experience, meter reading, system service, construction, installation and collections in the Central Division. Barnes joined the company in 2011 as Superintendent of Operations and served in that capacity until 2013. Prior to his career with Southeast Gas, Barnes worked seven years for CDG Engineers as a Project Engineer/Project Manager.
Director of Engineering Services
Robert Forbes is the Director of Engineering Services for Southeast Gas. He is responsible for system maintenance, infrastructure routing and design, right of way procurement and maintenance, GIS and system design and modeling. Forbes joined the company in 1986 as a Construction Worker, and served in numerous technical roles with the company, including Survey Technician, Inspector, Operations Assistant and Special Projects and Environmental Compliance Manager. He assumed his current position in 2006.
Director of Marketing and Communications
Shannon Jackson is the Director of Marketing and Communications for Southeast Gas. She oversees the company’s sales functions, internal and external communications and public relations. She is a member of the Energy Solutions Center Board of Directors, and serves on the American Public Gas Association Research Foundation Board. She joined the company in 1998 as Communication Coordinator, and also served in the role of Marketing and Communications Manager before assuming her role as Director of Marketing and Communications in 2016.
Director of Gas Management
Brian Gilliland is Southeast Gas’ Director of Gas Management. Gilliland is responsible for industrial accounts and contract negotiations for those accounts. He oversees the company’s natural gas purchases and the coordination of gas control functions, including gas supply planning and hedging activities and gas scheduling. Prior to joining Southeast Gas, Gilliland worked with Kinder Morgan/Gulf LNG Energy as a Terminal Manager, a position in which he was responsible for managing and directing the 38 employees at Gulf LNG Energy including the maintenance and operations departments at the terminal. He brings 25 years of natural gas experience to his role on the executive team for Southeast Gas.
